Closing Futures: Unemployed, job insecurity and the underclass

Entering the labour market means a difficult reality for many individuals, especially those in a more advanced and less skilled age group. For these individuals, long-term unemployment or underemployment (be it forced part-time work, residual or sporadic employment or otherwise) represents situations in which it is difficult to escape and shape their daily lives, adding to their present life a dimension of uncertainty and instability. This project intends to characterize the experiences of these individuals, understanding how their situation regarding the labour market impacts their own experiences, from the structuring of their daily life to the way they reflect on the present and project the future.
