graduated

Psychology
and
Educational
Studies
at
the
University
of
Paris
VIII
and
started
teaching
at
ISCTE
in
1978-79
where
she
concluded
her
PhD
in
Sociology
in
1989
and
presented
her
"habilitation"
in
1999.
She
is
full
professor
of
social
psychology
since
2002.
Following
her
PhD
which
marked
the
beginning
of
gender
studies
in
Portugal
she
dedicated
her
research
career
to
understanding
the
social
construction
of
gender
categories
and
its
impact
on
discrimination,
in
particular
discrimination
of
women
in
public
and
highly
qualified
professions
such
as
politics,
sciences
and
medicine.
She
supervised
/
co-supervised

two

doctoral
researchers.
She
was
visiting
professor
and
gave

doctoral

the
