Tamila Carvalho holds an M.A. in International Relations - Peace, Security and Development Studies from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra (FEUC) and a B.A. in International Relations from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Her Master's thesis "Displacing the border: the 'Brazilian language' and the re/production of colonial difference" focuses on the production of contemporary colonial subjects in postcolonial contexts, with an emphasis on processes of raciolinguistic difference. Tamila Carvalho was the recipient of two awards based on her outstanding academic performance. The first was the Merit Board of the University of Coimbra, which includes the top 5 per cent students. The second was the Best Student Award by FEUC (2023), having ranked first in the master's programme.
