Maria Manuela Mendes awarded by ULisboa/CGD

Maria Manuela Mendes, a researcher at CIES-Iscte, won a 2022 Universidade de Lisboa/Caixa Geral de Depósitos Scientific Award in the scientific area of Social Sciences.

This award is related to several projects in which the researcher has participated, related to education, Roma/Roma, migrations, namely the project "School performances among Roma: research-action and co-design project (EduCig)" (2017-2022), "which uses a less conventional approach in methodological terms, since it mobilises a multi-methods strategy (qualitative, quantitative and participatory) and of collaborative nature, i.e. with active and co-participatory involvement of young people (Roma and non-Roma), teachers and other professionals", according to the researcher.

The prize aims at rewarding scientific research activity and encouraging the practice of publishing in international journals of recognised quality.

The Award Ceremony of the Scientific Prizes Universidade de Lisboa/Caixa Geral de Depósitos, took place on 28 November 2022, at the Rectory of the University of Lisbon.
