Gustavo Cardoso, a researcher at CIES-Iscte, has joined the first Steering Committee of the International Observatory on Information and Democracy.

The Observatory's mission is to aggregate and synthesise existing research, offering policymakers a periodic global assessment of the information space and its impact on democracy.

To promote democratic principles in the global information and communication space, the structure is an international entity founded by 11 independent organisations from different origins and regions that will make it possible to issue concrete recommendations for regulation and self-regulation.
