Ana Espírito-Santo selected as visiting professor at Georgetown University

The Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD) has announced that Professor Ana Espírito-Santo, a researcher at CIES-Iscte and a lecturer at Iscte–Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, will be one of the next visiting professors at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. This opportunity arises through a program developed in partnership with the Department of Government at Georgetown University.

The program aims to strengthen the connection between the Portuguese and American academic communities by providing Portuguese professors with the chance to teach for one semester at one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in the fields of Political Science and International Relations.

Professor Ana Espírito-Santo holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute. She is currently an Associate Professor at Iscte and a researcher at CIES-Iscte, where she coordinates the Politics and Citizenship research group. Her academic work primarily focuses on political representation, gender and politics, and comparative politics.

During the spring semester of 2026, Professor Ana Espírito-Santo will teach at Georgetown University, sharing her expertise and research with American students and faculty. This experience not only recognizes her academic career but also presents an opportunity to enhance scientific and cultural exchange between Portugal and the United States.
