Call for (2) Research Scholarships for Master’s Students

The Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte), within the scope of Associação Iscte – Knowledge and Innovation, is opening a call for applications for the award of two (2) Research Scholarships for Master’s students under the project PARPLE – The Sequence of Party Promises: From the Decision of What to Promise to the Consequences of (Non)Fulfilment of the Mandate, project no. 2023.16141.ICDT, whose funding was approved by FCT, I.P., under the following conditions:

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, or in a field considered appropriate to the project by the selection panel, and must be enrolled in a Master’s programme in Political Science (in accordance with Article 6 of the Research Fellowship Regulation of the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., Regulation no. 950/2019).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
a) Proven experience in the use of data analysis software, quantitative or qualitative, such as SPSS, Stata, R, MaxQDA, or similar;
b) Proven experience in data analysis and writing scientific texts of a statistical or qualitative nature;
c) Experience in the development and validation of quantitative databases;
d) Experience conducting research work (qualitative or quantitative), participating in research projects, and/or publishing scientific work;
e) Good command of spoken and written English.

DURATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship will have a duration of 12 months, renewable up to the maximum limit of the approved funding or the maximum duration allowed for this type of scholarship (whichever occurs first). In no case may it exceed the limits established in paragraphs 3 and 6 of Article 7 of Regulation no. 950/2019, of 29 November, published in the Official Gazette (Diário da República), no. 241, Series II, of 16 December (FCT Research Fellowship Regulation).

The call is open from 5 to 18 March 2026, and only applications submitted within this period will be considered. Applications must be submitted exclusively through the recruitment portal of Associação Iscte – Knowledge and Innovation

and must include the following documents:
i) Detailed Curriculum Vitae;
ii) Copy of the Bachelor’s degree certificate, including the list of completed courses;
iii) Proof of enrolment in a Master’s degree programme, or alternatively a sworn declaration stating that the applicant will be able to present this document at the time of contract signing;
iv) Motivation letter;
v) Other relevant supporting documents, including certificates of participation in qualitative or quantitative analysis training/courses (SPSS, MAXQDA), as well as participation in research and/or intervention projects, internships, completed works or publications, etc.
