E-book “Cairo–Lisboa 2024: 30 Years of Sexual and Reproductive Health” now available

The Social Studies of Birth Laboratory (nascer.pt) announces the publication of the e-book “Cairo–Lisboa 2024: Three Decades of Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health in Debate”, edited by CIES-Iscte and organized by Mariana Anginho Évora, Dulce Morgado Neves, Elsa Pegado, Mário JDS Santos, Pía Rodríguez Garrido, Sónia Pintassilgo, and Violeta Alarcão.

This volume comprises 22 chapters written by more than 50 authors from Portugal, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Cape Verde, and Guinea-Bissau. The chapters are structured around five thematic axes: (1) sexual, reproductive and non-reproductive health and family planning; (2) maternal and child morbidity and mortality; (3) gender equality, equity, and women’s empowerment; (4) diversity, inclusion, and intersectionality; and (5) obstetric violence in Ibero-America: trends, challenges, and responses.

The publication results from selected works presented at the conference “CAIRO–LISBOA 2024 — The Challenges of Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health in Portugal, Lusophone Countries, and Latin America”, held online from Iscte on December 5–6, 2024.
We would like to thank all contributing authors, the members of the Scientific Committee, as well as the CIES-Iscte team—particularly Sofia Rocha and Lina Cardoso—for their work on editing this e-book.
