On April 29, 2026, the CIES – Centro de Investigação e Estudos de Sociologia is pleased to invite you to the public presentation of the project CRIMJUR – The Criminal Jury in Portugal. A History of a Forgotten Legal and Political Institution (1822–1927), led by Principal Investigator Emmanuel Berger.

The session will take place at Iscte – Building 4, Room A104 (1st floor).

This project offers the first systematic analysis of the Portuguese criminal jury, from its introduction in the liberal context of the 19th century to its abolition in 1927, contributing to a deeper understanding of the historical development of criminal justice and civic participation within the judicial system.
