New doctoral fellows join CIES under the Iscte merit fellowship programme

The Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology at Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa welcomes ten new doctoral fellowship holders, all integrated into the institution's merit fellowship programme. This initiative reaffirms the Centre's commitment to advanced training and to the internationalisation of social science research.

The new fellows are distributed across eight doctoral programmes, spanning fields such as Sociology, Communication Sciences, Public Policy, Political Economy, Political Science, Social Work, and Modern and Contemporary History.

This disciplinary breadth reflects CIES's interdisciplinary vocation and the wide scope of its research agenda.

The Iscte merit fellowship programme aims to support high-potential doctoral students, providing the conditions necessary for the development of quality research.

In addition to the ten merit fellowships, CIES also welcomes two fellows under institutional partnership arrangements. Shuyu Liu, a doctoral candidate in International Studies, conducts her research under a joint fellowship between the Centro Científico e Cultural de Macau (CCCM) and CIES, both serving as host institutions. Ana Carolina Haddad holds a fellowship in collaboration with the SocioDigital Lab, a research laboratory on society and digitalisation of which CIES is a member.

These partnerships represent a growing model of institutional collaboration, bringing together the resources and expertise of different organisations around shared research interests, and further strengthening the scientific and international reach of CIES.
