Edited by Renato Miguel do Carmo, Susana da Cruz Martins and Patrícia Ávila, the book marks the 40th anniversary of CIES.

The volume brings together a selection of studies that seek to highlight the diversity and relevance of the research carried out at CIES over four decades, addressing different areas and themes that are fundamental to understanding Portuguese society and contemporary social issues.

Through various contributions and generations of researchers, the anthology provides an insight into part of CIES’s scientific output and its contribution to understanding the profound transformations that have taken place in Portuguese society.

The book is on display on the first floor of the Library, where you can also find a leaflet containing bibliographic information and details about the organisers.

The Book of the Month is an initiative of the Iscte Library.
