Susana de Noronha is a Researcher on the project fAIces – Facial Recognition Technologies: Etho-Assemblages and Alternative Futures (Subproject Artists), coordinated by Helena Machado under a European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant and based at CIES-Iscte – Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology, University Institute of Lisbon. Within the fAIces project, working at the intersection of Science and Technology Studies (STS), Anthropology of Art, and Visual and Material Culture Studies, her research explores how artists creatively engage with facial recognition technologies, emphasizing repertoires of resistance, critique, and alternative sociotechnical imaginaries.While completing her Licentiate degree (2003), she was distinguished with the Bernardino Machado Award for Anthropology (Best Student) from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, U.Coimbra. Her MA dissertation in Sociology (Faculty of Economics, U.Coimbra) was awarded the 2007 CES Award for Young Portuguese-speaking Social Scientists by an international jury convened by the Centre for Social Studies (CES), U.Coimbra.
