Federica Cagnoli is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Sociology at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon. She received her Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the University of Genoa. Her doctoral research focused on techno-scientific controversies, analysed through theories of expertise and public participation developed in Science and Technology Studies.Her research expertise lies in science communication, public engagement with science and technology, public perceptions of science and risk, and the dynamics of expertise in socio-technical controversies.She has worked at the European Commission Joint Research Centre and has contributed to Horizon Europe research projects. She has conducted research stays in Ireland and Germany and has published in peer-reviewed international journals on science communication, public perceptions of science, and socio-technical controversies.
